5.1 3D Blu-Ray Home Theater System by LG with wireless rear speakers

Enjoying Theater Quality Sound at Home

We recently did a client install in a Condo unit where the client requested a simple space saving, yet great sounding speaker system for his new Television. We recommended the LG LHB976 ** a 3D Blu-Ray 5.1 surround sound all in one system; aka:  HTIB (Home Theater In a Box) that the client immediately fell in love with.  (**NOTE this system is currently discontinued but can still be found online at a great price.)

If you've recently purchased a high-definition TV, chances are you have an amazing picture — but more than likely you are experiencing sound in the same manner you always have, through the tiny speakers inside the TV.

In this post, we'll give you some insight on options to greatly improve your TV's sound, ranging from very simple, space-efficient speakers to full-blown home theater systems. You'll learn about the unique advantages each type offers, then you can decide which one makes most sense for your room, viewing habits, and audio tastes.

The perfect complement to flat panel TV's. Sound bar speakers require minimal space, and most mount directly to the display, or on a wall below the television. Some even come with an additional Sub-woofer.

If you are limited on space this is an ideal option. You can look into some of the more advanced models that use digital processing to create a virtual three-dimensional sound field.

Sound Bars deliver a complete audio solution. and can be placed anywhere in your home theater's stereo arrangement, and deliver the high-definition experience you most likely desire.

Speaker Systems

Matched slim profile speaker systems can deliver theater quality surround sound without taking up loads of space. They include either 3 or 5 speakers and a separate sub-woofer. Some require a stand-alone AV receiver.

Adding a stereo speaker system  to your TV is an easy way to add great sound in a smaller room. They give you more options to easily place the speakers, and require little wiring. You may opt to get a stereo receiver if you require multiple connections  for your components; and upgrade to floor-standing speakers along with  a powered sub-woofer for floor rumbling bass and high quality sound.

As we stated earlier we spec'd  an HTIB for our client, and if you desire an all-in-one system there are many out there to choose from. you may want full surround sound and features, like iPod® docks and built-in Blu-ray players. you may also prefer sleek, satellite speakers, and since most come with color coded wiring, you can experience a no hassle setup.

Onkyo HT-S9400THX

Onkyo offers the THX I/S Plus-certified HTiB, which includes several THX listening modes for cinema, music, and games. The HTS-S9400THX includes a full-featured HT-R990 AVR, two larger front left and right speakers, a dedicated center (identical to the front left and right in a horizontal orientation), and four smaller, identical side and rear surround speakers. A 10-inch, 125W powered sub-woofer completes the package. The AVR includes two additional channels of amplification for speakers in a second room.

(HTiB) sets take the guesswork out of matching speakers and include instructions for easy setup. Prices vary depending on features and complexity. Separates allow you to mix and match components based upon your choice of manufacturers.

No matter what you choose, separates, matched sets, or an HTIB, always listen before you purchase and trust what you hear, the bottom line is it has to make you feel good while listening, and of course has to be within your budget.
